MBT Mark Bai Trio
The Mark Bai Trio has been in Shanghai presenting standards and original compositions for over a year. From the starkly beautiful 5 beats of 8th to the energetic modern waltz style, Mark’s own tunes are rich in a variety of feelings, while new approaches to classics like John Coltrane’s “Countdown” draw on the tradition while showing a new path forward. Now young New York drummer Alex Ritz and bassist Michael Brownell round out the group, with sensitive accompaniment and new ideas. have performed at the JZ Club and JZ Festival.
白天三重奏
继2008年带领六重奏首演于上海国际爵士乐节后，白天重新调整了自己的创作方向并加大了钢琴演奏的比重。与先前就有过多次合作，来自波士顿的贝斯手Michael Brownell 以及芝加哥的鼓手Corey Radford一起组建了具有标志性意义的白天三重奏, 即MBT 。一个有着崭新音响，并强调空间美感的钢琴三重奏。所演奏的曲目既包括白天本人为三重奏的创作，也有经悉心编配后将崭新意念再现出来的标准曲。2010年后，三重奏稍作改动，与来自纽约的鼓手Alex Ritz建立起了新的合作并很快再次亮相乐坛。
Verneri Pohjola Quartet
A collaboration that grew out of their performance at the JZ Festival, the Verneri Pohjola Quartet is made up of two Finnish musicians and two Shanghai-based musicians. Pohjola, an inventive and emotional trumpet player, is joined by Bai, Brownell, and Pohjola’s frequent collaborator, Joonas Riippa on drums. Much of their repertoire is made up of originals from Verneri, deeply emotional, and like Mark’s tunes, with a broad range of feels. They have performed recently in Finland and China, and look forward to performances at the Shanghai Expo and JZ club on May 27th 2010, which will coincide with the release of their first CD.
Verneri Pohjola 四重奏
与芬兰爵士小号家Verneri Pohjola在2009年上海国际爵士乐节首次成功合作演出后，白天于次年初受邀前往赫尔辛基担任其新专辑<<Hot pot place around the corner>>中的钢琴手参与录制。和自己三重奏中的贝斯手Michael以及芬兰鼓手Joonas Riippa共同为Verneri Pohjola四重奏中的成员。在同年的上海世博会中登台献艺并发行该专辑。乐队演出的曲目基本为Verneri所创作，结构严谨且轮廓分明，充满着浓郁的北欧气息。
Braid/ Bai 钢琴二重奏 & 独奏
白天与恩师David Braid先生于2011年起正式建立了这项灵感四射的合作，并定名为Braid/ Bai钢琴二重奏。除了两人各具风范的钢琴独奏音乐外，其完美的重奏组合也堪称相映成趣，巧夺天工。音乐充分体现出了两人多年来的创作精华，和对现代爵士钢琴艺术的精湛理解与品味。相当完整地承袭了从近现代古典音乐到爵士领域的衔接和延伸，以及对其它优秀乐种的借鉴。将错综复杂的音乐语汇以简约优美的多项线条发散而出，并以深邃的思想传递给听众。Braid/ Bai钢琴二重奏已经成功在北京举行了首场音乐会，相信将会为现代钢琴艺术舞台带来一股新生的活力。
